Captain Islands Challenge - A New Series for the Times

Captain Islands Challenge

Indian Harbor is pleased to offer a new racing series that is fun, casual and well suited to the times.

The concept is simple. Racers race, on days and times of their choosing, around Captain Islands at least once in one direction and at least once in the other. They take their own start and finish times and report them to the race committee via email. More detail in the NOR.

Entry

Entry is via yachtscoring. The entry fee is $10.

FAQs

Happen to have any recommendations what mobile tracking apps to use?
We do! We will post suggestions here shortly.

If at least one race has to be sailed in one direction and another race in the other, does that mean I only have to sail two races?
Yes, though there is an advantage to sailing three races. Of the two races sailed in the same direction, the race that took longer will be discarded.

May I reset my start/finish point as the race progresses? Say the wind has increased.
In theory yes, but boats are encouraged not to.

If I want to start a new series may I do so after only sailing two races?
Yes. Just let the race committee know via email that you will not be sailing a third race in the your current series and the third race you sail will be the first race of a new series.

The series is new and different. If you have questions, others probably do also. Please submit them to [email protected] and we will respond directly and post them here as well.
