Indian Harbor Yacht Club's Fall Feva Fest came together during the weekend of October 28-29, 2017 despite the threatening forecast of high winds and a large southerly swell. Seven teams from the Long Island Sound, including Indian Harbor Yacht Club, American Yacht Club, Sea Cliff Yacht Club, and Milford Yacht Club, participated in the two-day clinic and regatta.
Saturday's clinic, run by RS Feva representative Todd Ricardi, saw challenging conditions providing the young sailors ample opportunity to test their skills and practice their capsize recovery technique. On Sunday all participants were pleased races had not been abandoned despite the foreboding forecast. In lighter than expected breeze and fairly calm seas a fantastic course was set just outside the mooring field. With the help of a patient and knowledgeable race committee, six competitive races were held allowing for one dropped score in the series. Indian Harbor Junior Yacht Club members Sophia Debs and Emmett Debs brought home first place followed by teams from American Yacht Club and Milford Yacht Club. A special thanks goes out to PRO Peter Cummiskey, and APRO Commodore Nye, as well as their entire Race Committee for all of their hard work on the water. An additional thank you goes out to Junior Sailing Committee Chair and Fall Feva Fest Event Chair Talal Debs, for his hard work and vision. Viva la Feva!
