Junior Sailing Summer Program

Sailing is a sport that one can enjoy throughout life. It is also a sport where young and old can work together as a team, each learning from the other and enjoying the camaraderie that only sailing can provide. This is why a junior sailing program is fundamentally important to a yacht club and to a community.

  • About the Program
    • The Junior Sailing Program, founded in 1923 by Commodores Robert Law and Clifford Mallory, encourages young mariners to develop skills that will foster a life-long appreciation of the sport.

Indian Harbor is the first yacht club in Connecticut to have opened its junior program to non-members. The Junior Sailing program offers instruction and fun, water-based activities to both racers and non-racers. The program promotes participation in sailing at all skill levels through education and competition, while developing in our Junior Sailors the qualities of sportsmanship, seamanship, self-discipline, and a respect for nature and for their fellow sailors.
