Yachting at Indian Harbor Yacht Club

Indian Harbor members embrace yachting in all forms.

Since 1889, Indian Harbor Yacht Club members have excelled in yachting at all levels and have shown leadership in the sport. Our members have contributed to the establishment of national organizations that define the sport, including NAYRU (known today as US Sailing), the US Power Squadron, the Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound, and The American Power Boating Association. The Club is proud to be a founding member of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.

Indian Harbor has garnered a premier reputation among US yacht clubs, as its members have competed and excelled at all levels of the sport, including fleet racing, one-design racing, and ocean racing. The Club’s members have won the Transatlantic Race, the Fastnet Race, and the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit, and have won the coveted Lighthouse Trophy in the Newport to Bermuda Race four times. Indian Harbor members also have won the American Power Boat Championships four times.

The Club offers sailing opportunities year round and has developed strong teaching programs for both adults and juniors. In addition, as part of its ongoing commitment to yachting, the Club has hosted numerous national and international regattas, garnering a reputation for excellence in race management.
